The Sydney Metro now runs through Bankstown, connecting the area directly to the CBD and north-west Sydney. For buyers and sellers near the station, it brings more interest in apartments and more development around the precinct, and both show up in contracts.
Bankstown has already seen major investment in its CBD, with new apartment and retail development and upgrades around the station. The new Bankstown Hospital is also under way, with main construction expected to begin in 2027.
What buyers near the station should check
- The planning certificate. Land near the station may be affected by rezoning or new development controls
- Strata records for new towers. Newer buildings may have defect inspections under way. See our strata report guide
- Off the plan contracts. More projects mean more off the plan sales, with sunset clauses and a 10 business day cooling off period
What sellers should know
If you own a home on a large block near the precinct, developers may approach you with an option agreement. Get the agreement reviewed before you sign, because the terms on price, timing and deposit vary widely.
Marcelino works across Canterbury-Bankstown and can review your contract before you commit. See our Bankstown conveyancing page.
